The UA Local 189 Joint Apprenticeship Training Program (JATC) offers the next generation of pipe-fitters, welders, plumbing installers and other skilled trade workers the opportunity to learn from the best in the industry, while also earning living. Since the 1950s, we have provided continuing education courses to local apprentices who have gone on to become masterclass journeymen. Are you ready to become a JATC apprentice? Take a look at our Apprenticeship Requirements and fill out your application today!
The mission of the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee Educational Trust Fund is to equip members of Local 189 with educational resources for developing the skills of their Apprentices and Journeyworkers. By thus facilitating the training needs of the membership, we maximize their employability and prepare them for changes in the industry. We are committed to making training opportunities available, allowing members to acquire new skills and remain competitive in the industry regardless of geography. In this way, we are determined to meet the needs of the piping industry and enhance employment opportunities for our members, while remaining fiscally responsible to the beneficiaries of the fund.
